Superlatives

After several years of incorporating digital and AI-based processes into my practice, these pieces mark a deliberate, return to the handmade and the tangible.
These pieces are created to subvert the uncanny, pristine perfection of a digital images by physically forcing an idealized landscape print into a crumpled, hardened textile sculpture. The fabric's rigid folds deliberately interrupt the scenic composition, distorting the image to make it feel recovered and discarded rather than freshly produced. This frozen state is anchored by hand-applied fiber fringe, shifting the piece away from a weightless digital file and toward a familiar, forgotten object—like a banner or a thrift store souvenir. By turning a generic virtual image into an imperfect relic with its own material history, the work explores the bittersweet passage of time between screen culture and physical reality.
