I've seen you before/when I'm not seeing anyone else
During the most restrictive days of COVID, when the world seemed to close in and the outside became increasingly daunting, I found myself at a crossroads as a photographer. With people disappearing from sight and the outside world feeling more intimidating by the day, I turned inward to find inspiration. I began to explore the familiar and the comforting: television screens and old photographs from my collection.
These seemingly ordinary objects became my new subjects, offering a fresh canvas for creativity. By manipulating these images in-camera and creating collage-like compositions, I discovered a new dimension of expression. Even as the world has reopened, I’ve continued to delve into this innovative approach, building on the intriguing possibilities that these "found" images offer.
In this space, there’s no need to "improve" on a fleeting snapshot or perfect a moving image. Instead, it’s about exploring the potential of what’s already there and finding new ways to breathe life into it. The journey is ongoing, and while the direction remains uncertain, it’s an exciting process of continual discovery and reinvention.
